Pantone is the authority of all that has to do with color and its many shades. Each year they compile a short list of go-to colors for the season with one hue ranking at the top of the list as the official color of the season.
Emerald Green
This year, emerald green took the prize. According to Pantone Color Institute Executive Director Leatrice Eisman, “Symbolically, emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal, and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world.” We agree. It helps that it's a rich, sultry color that we feel conveys power and the ability to step outside of the neutral rut so many of us find ourselves in from time to time.
Purple
"Historically PURPLE was only worn by an elite few,but n 2013 it will be for everyone," explains Vogue fashion editor Francesca Burns. "It is undoubtedly the color of the collections.
It is the color of luxury and passion, of princely robes and papal vestments, dazzling gems and florid prose.And now, it's the reigning color of the season.
Purple is associated with royalty. It symbolizes power, nobility, luxury, and ambition. It conveys wealth and extravagance. Purple is associated with wisdom, dignity, independence, creativity, mystery, and magic.
